In a new international achievement added to Helwan University's growing record of success, Dr. Fatma Elzahraa Elkhmissy, Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Helwan University, and seconded faculty at King Salman International University, to its prestigious "Power List 2025". The list features 50 of the world’s most inspiring individuals and changemakers in the field of pathology.
This year, Dr. Elkhmissy was selected under the “Leading Voices” category, in recognition of her innovative contributions to advancing pathology education at the undergraduate level. This marks her third inclusion on the Power List, following recognitions in 2022 and 2024, underscoring her continued international impact in medical education.
Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating:
"Dr. Fatma Elkhmissy’s selection for The Pathologist’s 2025 Power List is a well-deserved acknowledgment of her outstanding efforts and creativity in medical education. It affirms that Helwan University is home to academic excellence capable of competing globally and proudly representing Egypt on the international stage. Prof. Dr. Rasha Refai, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Helwan University, also extended her congratulations, describing the recognition as a collective accomplishment for the faculty.

She is a role model for academic excellence—balancing scientific rigor with a strong dedication to the mission of education. This milestone enhances our faculty’s reputation nationally and internationally and underscores the leadership of successful Egyptian women on the global stage."
Dr. Elkhmissy expressed her gratitude and pride in representing Helwan University, noting that she is one of only two representatives from institutions in Africa and the Middle East to be featured on the list. This recognition builds on her international academic journey: she is a Fellow of the International FAIMER Institute for Medical Education and Leadership, an Associate Fellow of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), and an Ambassador of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE).
According to The Pathologist, inclusion in the Power List is determined by a panel of expert judges who assess nominees based on their ability to introduce bold ideas and implement impactful initiatives in pathology. The magazine emphasized that these individuals do not simply adapt to challenges—they lead transformation, grounded in values that spark innovation, inspire action, and transcend boundaries to advance the field of medicine.
Dr. Elkhmissy’s inclusion in this distinguished list reaffirms the excellence and leadership of Egyptian academics and highlights Helwan University’s ongoing commitment to supporting its faculty and empowering them to make meaningful global contributions to education and research.
