Capital University Hospitals Celebrate World Hand Hygiene Day and Reinforce the Culture of Infection Prevention and Control

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Rasha Refaie, Dean of the Faculty and Chairperson of the Hospitals Board, Prof. Dr. Wael Omar, Executive Director of Capital University Hospitals, Prof. Dr. Karim Montaser, Hospital General Director, and Dr. Doaa Mohamed, Director of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit, Badr University Hospital organized a major celebration on the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day to highlight the pivotal role of infection prevention and control in protecting patients and preventing complications.
During the celebration, the attending leaders emphasized the importance of adhering to infection prevention and control protocols as an integral component of healthcare quality:
Prof. Dr. Rasha Refaie (Dean of the Faculty and Chairperson of the Hospitals Board) praised the commitment to quality standards and infection prevention measures as a fundamental pillar of patient safety.
Prof. Dr. Wael Omar (Executive Director of the Hospitals) affirmed the continuous support for strengthening and advancing preventive systems across all hospital departments.
Prof. Dr. Karim Montaser (Hospital General Director) highlighted the importance of both community and healthcare awareness regarding proper hand hygiene practices to reduce the risk of infection transmission.
Dr. Nada El-Demiaty (Deputy Hospital Director for Institutional Support) emphasized the vital role of continuous training and awareness programs in enhancing the competency of healthcare professionals.
Dr. Mohamed El-Khawas (Deputy Hospital Director for Therapeutic Affairs) pointed out the direct impact of infection prevention and control on improving treatment outcomes and reducing patients’ length of stay.
Dr. Doaa Mohamed (Director of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit) delivered an awareness presentation on the latest internationally adopted practices to ensure a safe working environment.
As a gesture of appreciation, the celebration included honoring the hospital’s Infection Prevention and Control Team in recognition of their dedicated efforts in implementing quality and safety standards. Outstanding members of the medical staff and supporting services were also recognized for demonstrating exemplary professional commitment and excellence.
