Introduction to the unit/About the unit
The International Students Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Capital University seeks to achieve an integrated educational environment that allows international students to thrive and achieve their academic and social potential, and to enhance the university’s position as a leading institution in international education.
The International Students Office was established at the Faculty of Medicine at Helwan University, then it was developed and its name was changed to become the International Student Unit and an administrative structure was formed for it under the guidance of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Rasha Omar Rifai with the adoption of Faculty’s Council Resolution No. (75/8) dated March 12, 2024.
Vision
The International Students Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Capital University, aspires to be a leading model in providing a comprehensive and high-quality educational environment, enhancing the experience of international students and equipping them to achieve academic successes and cultural integration, thereby contributing to making Helwan University a distinguished destination for international education.
Mission
Our mission is to provide comprehensive support to international students by meeting their needs and encouraging them to adapt to the new educational environment. We aim to enhance the knowledge and skills of faculty members and local staff to improve cultural competence and ensure the integration of international students into academic and social life. We also work to provide diverse opportunities to promote cultural exchange and create a rich educational experience that makes their stay in Egypt applicable to their future in their home countries.
Strategic Goals
- Provide academic, psychological, and social support services for international students to help them overcome challenges.
- Establish a guidance and counseling system to assist international students in adapting to university and social life in Egypt.
- Enhance communication between international students and local students to promote cultural and knowledge exchange.
- Increase cultural awareness and diversity among students by organizing joint cultural events and activities.
- Contribute to the marketing of the college by disseminating information about it and supporting the provision of a distinguished educational experience to attract international students.
Operational Steps
- Organize workshops and training courses for faculty members and staff to enhance their understanding of the needs of international students.
- Create comprehensive databases for international students that include academic and social information to enhance the support provided to them.
- Organize introductory events for international students to familiarize them with the university environment and life in Egypt.
- Develop guidance programs that include academic and personal counseling and psychological support.
- Promote cultural and sports activities that encourage interaction among students.
